1. What is the Message of the Day, and what is it good for?

The Message of the Day keeps you informed of all things that the game administrators think you need to know. It’s really important that you read this messages carefully, as they might answer a lot of your questions. For example, we can tell you in there whether bugs are fixed or not, when the round ends or, last but not least, we can ask you for a little favour.

2. What is the Message of your Commanders?

This is the message that your galaxy commanders set. As these people are the most important people in your galaxy, it might be interested to keep up with these messages. They can contain information about politics (who to attack, who not to attack) and about the strategy of your galaxy. Your galaxy mates will probably appreciate if you read this message often.

3. What is the News?

The news displays information about your account. For example battle reports, in battle reports you can see how many ships you or your opponent lost during a battle, and how many mines you capped during that battle. This way you can calculate the amount of damage you did to your opponent. It also displays information about other players defending you or attacking you.

4. How does the mailing system work?

The mailing system is a good way to mail your galaxy mates, alliance mates, or opponents. It’s fast, and if they are online, they directly notice that you send a mail, because they see the mail button become green. You can type the coordinates of the user you want to mail, and than press the submit button when you are ready. You can find the user coordinates by pressing the ‘find’ button.

5. The Enemies button is red, what does that mean?

This means you are under attack. You also received news about someone attacking you. It could be that you are under attack by a few people at a time; this might be a reason to call for help in your alliance or galaxy.

6. The Allies button is green, what does that mean?

That means someone is defending you. This could be useful if you are under attack, but is not needed when you are not. Than it means someone is just at your base with his fleet for a few ticks and isn’t doing anything.

7. How does the chat work?

You can go to the chat by opening a window of your favourite IRC (Internet Relay Chat) Client (for example mIRC, www.mirc.com). Than go to the server 81.23.233.12, you can do that by typing /server 81.23.233.12 in your status window. If you typed it and pressed the enter button, you automatically join the Galactic Quest main channel, #quest. Most of the people who are on the server at that moment will probably be in that channel. You can also join other channels by typing: /join #(channel name). There will be a chat server guide soon to help you with all the other options of the IRC server.

8. What is the Universe?

The Universe is a list of the people in top of the game. It displays the Top 25 individual users, Top 10 galaxy’s and Top 5 Alliances. The ultimate goal of the game is to get yourself on top of the Top 25 individual users, but also get your galaxy and your alliance on top of their list.

9. What is in the alliance screen?

The alliance screen displays “You are not in an alliance” if you have no alliance (or in other words, tag). If you have, it displays who your alliance commanders are, and gives you the options to go to the member list, and the alliance forum. The member list shows whether your alliance mates are online or not, and their coordinates, size and score. If you are needing defence, you might consider to look in this screen for online alliance mates to help defend you.

10. How do the Galaxy’s work?

You can divide the galaxy’s in 2 types of galaxy’s: Private and Public. Private galaxy’s are restricted to people who paid some money to get in 1 galaxy with their mates, you can only join a private galaxy if you have the correct password for that galaxy. You can get it with the owner of that galaxy. Public galaxy’s are galaxy you can join at any time. If you click the button Join Random Galaxy with the signup you will come into such a galaxy your own. Galaxy’s are separated by 3 factors. X: This is called the cluster you are in. Y: This is called the galaxy. Z: This is called the planet. Every cluster (X) contains 10 galaxy’s (Y). Each galaxy contains 20 planets (Z). If you start attacking someone within your own galaxy, the travel time will be the shortest possible; 20 ticks. If you attack someone outside your galaxy, but in your cluster, you will have a travel time of 30 ticks. If you attack someone outside your own cluster (this means that user has another X as you have) you’ll be travelling for 40 ticks.

11. What is displayed in status?

The status screen displays all military activity within your galaxy. This means you see every fleet that’s going out of the galaxy, and who it’s attacking or defending. You can also see who is attacking someone in your galaxy, and who the target is. You will also see the ETA of that user attacking or defending another user.

12. What is the use of the Galaxy and Alliance forum?

The galaxy and alliance forum are for good usage to discuss things that you can’t discuss on the Galactic Quest public forum. For example if your galaxy or alliance is planning a mass attack on another galaxy / alliance.

13. What is the senate?

The senate is the place you vote for commanders, and see if people within your galaxy are online. This is also the place where the galaxy commander chooses his minister of communication and minister of war.

14. Construction, Military, Research & Production: What is ETA?

ETA means estimated time of arrival. This stands for the time it is supposed to be ready. If the ETA of your crystal research is 6, this means it takes 6 ticks before this research is ready.

15. Production: What is Stock?

Stock is the amount of ships / ODG you have of a certain type. So if it says stock Penetrators 100, it means you have a total of 100 Penetrators.

16. Production: What is ODG? What are ships? What’s the difference?

ODG is Orbital Defence Grid. It’s always at your base defending if there are incoming fleets. Ships are mobile; you can send them wherever you wish. So this means that orbital defence grid can’t be used to attack other people, but ships can. Except for the Cobra, which doesn’t attack. It’s only useful at the un-cloaked base to prevent enemy mine cappers from capping your mines.

17. What are explorers? What are scans?

You can buy explorers to scan for new land parts. You need land parts to gain resources. However you do need to utilize those land parts to gain metal or crystal in the resources screen. You can use the scans to see how many ships or ODG your enemy has. Unfortunately, scans will only see ships that are at the un-cloaked base, or in Fleet 1 or Fleet 2. Not at the cloaked base. You can also see the way another user utilized his mines. (metal, crystal, uranium or unused, in the sector scan).

18. What’s the difference between cloaked and un-cloaked?

The cloaked base does actually nothing. You can store ships there without the risk of them getting shot at when you have enemy’s attacking you. They are also not visible when an enemy scans your base with the sector or unit scan. So because of that he won’t know what you’re hiding. The un-cloaked base however, is visible on all scan, and will defend your base at all time.

19. My fleets are at base, why don’t they defend?

Fleets don’t defend your own base when they are at the base; they are visible on unit and sector scans, but don’t defend. So they don’t risk getting shot at an enemy attack. The only thing defending is the cloaked base.

20. What is the power of the ships?

21. Somebody attacked me, and I lost my mines, why?

This means the enemy attacker had a large amount of mine cappers in his fleet. As the name says, those ships cap mines. You have two options to get them back. 1 is, explore new mines with your explorers in the resources screen, but you can also build a lot of mine cappers yourself and get your mines back from the one who took them from you, or with somebody else.

22. What’s the use of the Intelligence agency?

In the Intelligence agency you can scan the news of your enemy. This can be useful if you are attacking that someone, because of you scan his news on regular base, you can see whether he is receiving defence or not.

23. What are tags and how can I change tags?

Tags are the same as alliances. For example there are Alex en Massacre with the tag admins. That means both are in an alliance called “admin”. There are far more alliances, and you can create one yourself to. It all can be done in the preferences screen. In the change tag field you can type the access password of the alliance you wish to join. If your password is correct, it’ll be changed automatically.

24. What are credits?

Credits are “funds” with which you can buy things that could make the game more fun to play for you, for example a private galaxy or a premium account.

25. How can I get credits and how can I use them?

You can get credits by sending money to us trough pay pal. If you send us the money, you will get a code with which you will be able to complete your credit transfer. At that moment you have credits, you can spend those credits by buying a private galaxy or premium account. You can do that in the preferences screen, and than go to “my credit admin”. If you enter this zone, you’ll be asked for a password. If you haven’t changed that password, it’s the same as your login password. We advise that you change it. This will be a lot safer, so the chance that someone else runs of with your credits is smaller.

26. Is playing with multiple accounts allowed?

No, this is called multi playing, and that’s not allowed in Galactic Quest. Your account will be deleted if we notice that you are multi playing.

27. My account got closed! How can I open it again?

You can’t open it again. If your account got closed it means that you ignored the warning messages, you did not put your account on the safe list or your IP on the proxy list.

28. I got news called “WARNING”, what is all that about?

This means your account is suspected to be a multi account. If you are not, get your account on the safe list or your IP on the proxy list. If you are a multi, you should be ashamed of yourself

29. What is the safe list and proxy list, how can I get on them?

The safe list is a list of people connecting from the same IP on many occasions. For example brothers, sisters, sons of people playing galactic quest. You can get your account on the safe list by adding it in the preferences screen. Adding your account does not mean that you can play multi as much as you want, because you will be removed from the safe list if there are reasons to believe you are multi playing. (You will get messages of that). You will also be removed if there is no reason to believe you need to be on the safe list. You can add an IP to the proxy list in the preferences screen too. We will check whether it’s a proxy or not, and if it is, it will remain on the list, if it isn’t it will be removed.
